At the beginning of last year, we wrote that BlackBerry received an order from the German government for the supply of 10,000 smartphones, and now it has become known that the company received an order for 80,000 of the most secure smartphones in the world from the US Department of Defense.

True, here, in fairness, it’s worth pointing out that, in addition to a very large order of 80,000 BlackBerry phones, the Ministry of Defense ordered the delivery of 1,800 devices from other companies, including iPhone 4s / 5 smartphones and Apple’s iPad tablets, as well as several smartphones and tablets from Samsung.

The current executive director of BlackBerry, John Chen, recently said that the company this year will focus on serious work with the business segment of customers, which in turn are very serious about the security of their gadgets.

Of course, 80 thousand smartphones sold are nothing compared to the figures that the Android and iOS platforms can boast of, but apparently, the company has chosen the right direction for its further development. After all, the purchase by the Ministry of Defense of devices to which more stringent security requirements apply can be an excellent advertisement for the BlackBerry.
