The South Korean company LG decided not to wait for the MWC-2014 exhibition, which will begin later this month, and introduced the new flagship successor to the popular model Optimus G Pro - the G Prot 2 tablet, offering an enlarged display and a 13-megapixel camera that can shoot video in Ultra-high resolution 4K Ultra High Definition.
Running on Android 4.4 KitKat, the new LG G Pro 2 is based on the Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor with a frequency of 2.26 GHz and the Adreno 330 graphics chip. The device is equipped with 3 GB of RAM and will be offered in versions with 16 and 32 GB permanent memory, which in any case can be expanded by supporting microSD memory cards.
According to the company, the device offers a very powerful speaker for such devices - 1 W, which provides a cleaner and more powerful bass, and is generally 30 percent louder than the speaker of the previous G Pro model. Among the connectivity options, the device offers Bluetooth 4.0, a USB port, Wi-Fi (802.11 a / b / g / n / ac), NFC and SlimPort.
The dimensions of the LG G Pro 2 phablet are 157.9 x 81.9 x 8.3 mm, which makes it thinner than its predecessor, but wider due to the fact that it uses a 5.9-inch IPS-display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels surrounded by a thin frame of 3.3 mm. This thin frame allows, according to LG, to provide the most winning ratio of screen size and useful space, which is 77.2 percent. In addition, the company managed to save due to this, the total weight of the device by 2 grams, now the gadget, along with a battery capacity of 3200 mAh, weighs 172 grams.
LG G Pro 2 is equipped with two cameras: front - 2.1 megapixel; 13 megapixel with optical stabilizer Optical Image Stabilizer Plus (OIS +) is located at the back. The latter, in turn, is capable of shooting HD video at 120 frames per second, or 4K Ultra HD video (the frame rate is not specified), for later viewing on 4K TVs.
Among the innovations is the technology of obtaining images of Natural Flash, which provides the output of temperature more balanced colors and exposure, compared with conventional flashes. The Magic Focus feature allows the device owner to select the depth of focus just before taking an image. In addition, there is a function Burst Shot, which allows one click to take 20 shots in a row and then, if desired, combine them into video.
In addition to using the KnockON function in G Pro 2, which debuted in the company's flagship smartphone (LG G2) and allowed to wake the device by double-tapping the screen, the South Korean company also introduced the Knock Code function, which allows the owner to create their own set of unlocking touches. LG says that in total, the phablet offers 86,367 combinations of touches, varying from two clicks to eight, which will need to be made anywhere on the screen.
Among the new software here is the Mini View, which makes it possible to reduce the scale of the working screen to 4.7 or 3.4 inches, which ultimately allows you to work with the gadget more conveniently with one hand. Dual Browser support allows you to split the screen into two parts and use two different web browsers at the same time.
The LG G Pro 2 phablet will go on sale in South Korea already this month, however, the company has not yet indicated either the price of the device, or whether it will go on sale to other markets. Nevertheless, we can expect the appearance of new items at the Mobile World Congress exhibition, which will begin on February 24.
