The Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi, well-known in its home country, has declassified its next product - Redmi Note. A month earlier, the company confirmed its readiness to enter the global smartphone market.
Previously, there was information on the Web that the second generation of the budget Android-smartphone Redmi (better known in China as Hongmi) will be released in April. But as it turned out, this will happen earlier. The other day on the official Xiaomi page on the social network Sina Weibo a device called Redmi Note appeared. Preliminary sales of the smartphone will begin this Wednesday, although the official launch is scheduled for March 26.
According to previously published information spreading at the level of rumors, the Redmi Note smartphone is equipped with a 5.5-inch HD display and an MTK6592 8-core processor. I must admit that the size of the display refers to the category of phablets. Phablets are mobile devices with a touchscreen diagonal from 5 to 7 inches.
In the publication on Xiaomi chief executive Lei Jun attributes high performance and energy-saving performance to the new mobile device. The official cost of the Redmi Note is not revealed - Xiaomi asks users to guess the price and win one of fifty new smartphones.
To date, the most affordable smartphone in the line of Xiaomi is a 4.7-inch Redmi worth just $ 130. This device is the first Xiaomi smartphone for the global market. Last month, the company began selling Redmi outside of China and Hong Kong.
Releasing devices of the same class, but with different screen sizes, Xiaomi follows Samsung’s strategy. Even the word “Note” in the title indicates the similarity of the Chinese smartphone with the Korean Samsung Galaxy Note device. It looks like Redmi is Xiaomi’s first step towards creating a wide range of products that could compete with leading global brands, including Samsung.
