The popularity of cheap mobile phones from Nokia’s Asha line doesn’t give rest to Samsung. Therefore, as we wrote earlier today, the Korean giant decided to release its own series of budget devices Rex, which should directly compete with the Finnish pipes. Now we have the opportunity to share the first photo, which shows the REX series smartphones, and tell some details about their prices.
Samsung wants to close the gap between current phones and smartphones using Rex. The company describes these devices as "a new series of phones with smart features." The series will include four models: Rex 90, 80, 70 and 60. The first three of the list will offer capacitive touch displays, while the younger model 60 will receive a resistive touch screen.
All new products will receive support for two SIM-cards and will work on the basis of Java-based operating system, with Samsung TouchWiz brand interface. The cost of models will vary from 50 to 100 dollars.
Samsung is going to sell such phones in emerging markets such as India, Brazil, Africa and the Far East. And since the same Asha line from Nokia is almost fully present in our Russian market, it is possible that Samsung Rex devices will also appear with us.
