The Spanish manufacturer of smartphones Geeksphone officially announced the availability of a device capable of operating on two operating systems in Europe. The multi-user environment allows users to easily switch between the mobile platforms Android and Firefox OS.
Revolution - the so-called new smartphone of the Spanish company GeeksPhone, which was the first in Europe to develop a phone that runs the Android operating system. The manufacturer connects its novelty with the "revolution" in the world of smartphones: for the first time, users can choose which of two operating systems Android and Firefox OS, simultaneously installed on the phone, use it, the British newspaper The Telegraph writes.
It is worth noting that Geeksphone is one of the first hardware partners of the platform Firefox OS, built by Mozilla on the basis of the open web engine Gecko. If Android accounts for about 70 percent of the smartphone market in Europe, then Boot2Gecko (the code name for the operating system from Mozilla) takes the first steps in this field.
As for the technical part, the Geeksphone Revolution is equipped with a 2-core Intel Atom Z2560 processor at 1.6 GHz with Hyper-Threading technology and 1 GB of RAM. The battery capacity of 2,000 mAh is enough for a long time to maintain the device, despite the 4.7-inch IPS-display with qHD-resolution (540 × 960 pixels).
If the rear camera with LED-flash has eight megapixels, then only two are allocated to the front camera. The footage can be stored on an internal drive of 4 GB or on a memory card with a maximum capacity of 32 GB. Also notes support for Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, A-GPS, Micro-USB and 3G.
Geeksphone Revolution is available in Germany, France, Spain and the UK, and in a few days will also appear in Italy. Until April 15, the smartphone is offered at a price of 240 euros, including a 30 percent discount.
