If we look at today's comparison in terms of the quality of these smartphones, then the differences between HTC One and Samsung are quite insignificant. Of course, some readers might point out the fact that HTC has a more attractive design, a friendlier interface and offers more originality, perhaps. But if you look at all these issues from the market, then Samsung has left HTC far behind itself for a long time. Therefore, due to the new flagship One, the company wants to return itself to the glory of Olympus, but then it faces a very serious problem, which is called the Galaxy S IV. We have already given a comparative description of the flagship of Samsung, Sony and HTC, but decided to push the first and last face to face, one on one. Let's see if there are chances for the Taiwanese company to stand up against the Korean giant.
Dimensions

Samsung Galaxy S IV and HTC One have almost the same dimensions. Only in the case of One, the smartphone is 2 mm narrower, but 18 percent thicker than its rival.
Body materials

Galaxy S IV continues the tradition of using plastic. Some people like it, some don't like it. HTC One, in turn, is made of anodized aluminum and makes a pretty good bid for the design. HTC managed to accomplish two very difficult tasks: to make the smartphone look cool and not to look like something that came before it.
It is difficult to say that the result is better. Plastic, which is easy to replace, choose the right color and not much to spend on it, or aluminum, which is much more difficult to repair, is more expensive, but nonetheless looks more premium. It is therefore not surprising that both plastic and aluminum have so many fans. What ultimately is closer to you is up to you.
Weight

Plastic has another advantage over aluminum - it is lighter. Therefore, Galaxy S IV turned out to be lighter than HTC One by almost 10 percent.
Display

Both devices offer stunningly crisp 1080p displays. The screen size of the Galaxy S IV is slightly larger (4.99 inches vs. 4.7 inches) than the HTC One, but both smartphones can offer their own screen features. While the Galaxy S IV uses Super AMOLED technology, which was used in the previous version of the flagship, the One screen uses the Super LCD 3 technology. It is worth considering that the screen of the S IV is brighter and more colorful. For many, this seems like a virtue, but there are those who think that the colors on the screen are less natural and more caustic.
CPU

Both versions of the Galaxy S IV should be faster than the HTC One. And the version based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 quad-core processor has already proven this. But the fact is that most top-end smartphones have sufficient processor power that can handle any applications offered for the platform. Therefore, the difference between performance in this case can be noticeable only in the same benchmarks.
RAM

Smartphones have recently begun to look more and more like real computers. Not only their functionality increases, but the threshold of “iron” that is used in them increases. The market dictates its own rules, and the standard of 2013 is the use of 2 GB of RAM in the flagships. Under these standards, both smartphones fit. Of course, the operating system also eats away a piece, but for the majority (or all) of tasks of this volume will be enough. At least for now. But after all, 64 MB was the ultimate dream, not on a mobile device, but on a PC.
Permanent memory

The basic One model offers 32 GB of permanent memory. In addition, the promised version and 64 GB. But the trouble is that such models are not likely to officially reach Russia. True, no one has canceled the Internet. In turn, the Galaxy S IV offers three volume options: 16, 32 and 64 GB. For those to whom this will seem a little, the presence of a microSD slot is provided. HTC does not have microSD support.
Networking opportunities

Here, everything will depend directly on local operators. If they provide LTE support, then both phones will be able to offer ultra-fast data transfer over the Web.
Battery

Compared with the previous flagship Galaxy, the new S IV offers a more capacious battery. This is not surprising, because the new flagship offers an enlarged screen and more powerful processors. The HTC battery turned out to be smaller, but its processor works at lower frequencies, and the screen turned out to be less (albeit only slightly) than that of a competitor.
Cameras

On paper, it seems that the Galaxy S IV will dominate this territory. But it is worth considering that not only by megapixels is the quality of the images measured. Also important are the technologies that allow you to get high-quality photos. And in this case, the HTC One can stand out markedly against the general background. The company “installed” fewer pixels into the sensor of the smartphone's camera, but made these pixels more, calling the technology “ultrapixels” (Ultrapixels). In addition, One uses the f2.0 aperture and a backlit 1.3-inch CMOS sensor, which, according to HTC, will allow you to take high-quality images even with a low light source.
It is still difficult to compare the cameras of both devices. You need to wait directly for practical tests. But nevertheless, it seems that both will offer excellent quality pictures.
Soft

If you compare just bare operating systems, the Galaxy S IV compared to One will offer at the start a more modern version. True, no one denies the fact that One will eventually also receive Android 4.2.2.
If you dig deeper, you will find that each smartphone offers its own original shell. In the case of the Galaxy S IV, it uses TouchWiz, which works at the limit of its capabilities, in order not to be as close as possible to the Android OS itself. In other words, offers a bunch of new features.
Offhand, Immediately comes Air Hover, which allows you to view a preview, without touching the screen, but simply holding a finger above the display. Dual Camera allows you to simultaneously take pictures and record video from two cameras (front and rear), Smart Scroll allows you to scroll through emails and web pages using face recognition technology. Perhaps for many these functions will seem useless, but nevertheless Samsung can be commended for still trying to introduce new ideas.
The Sense 5 shell, which is used in the HTC One, in turn, may not seem to be a step backwards, but marking time. Unlike Samsung, who tried to offer “everything you can and cannot do,” HTC decided to simplify things a little.
The most noticeable feature here is Blinkfeed, a Flipboard-like news hub on one of the working screens. In addition to the already familiar grid of application icons, the smartphone screen greets its owner with tiles with various latest news feeds.
findings
Sometimes with such comparisons it becomes clear which device is better. But let's admit that the audience, like the market, is very mixed. One person may like this device, and the second - is another. It all depends on what this or that person is waiting for from the device.
Unfortunately for HTC, all marketing aspects and market trends will eventually lead everyone towards Samsung. Most likely, sales of the Galaxy S IV will be much larger than sales of One, as was the case with the Galaxy S III. Just because Samsung knows how to sell their products, leaving behind all these marketing issues, as much as possible "charging" their devices.
To the credit of HTC, it can be said that the company was still able to launch a completely new product to the market. He is stylish, he is beautiful, he is aluminum and uses new technologies. This product certainly has its own buyer.
Choose, as always, only you.
