Residents of South Korea will have full power over their smartphones

Корейцы получат полную власть над своими смартфонами

Many modern smartphones come bundled with applications that are tightly sewn into their memory. Recall at least the LG G Flex smartphone, which has as many as 84 applications embedded, and you cannot remove any of them. South Korean authorities have signed a bill that will force phone manufacturers to lift the ban on the removal of such applications.

We all love to stuff our favorite smartphone with various “tweaks”, useful software, toys, but few people like it when manufacturers of modern phones try to solve everything for us and cram a bunch of completely unnecessary applications into memory of our pet. Well, if all this rubbish could simply be removed, but the “gifts” from the manufacturer are firmly blocked, and it is often impossible to erase them from the phone’s memory.

According to the decision of local authorities, all manufacturers of smartphones, without exception, should provide the end users of their products with the ability to remove pre-installed applications. Of course, this law allows some exceptions for particularly important applications, thanks to which the operating system is possible, as well as shops like Google Play and the App Store. So, the user will not be able by mistake or ignorance to delete something vital.

This law was born in the depths of the South Korean Ministry of Science and Computer Technologies, which decided that users need much greater freedom of action and authority over the gadgets they acquired. The ministers also felt that such an initiative would improve the performance of mobile devices and reduce the charge on their batteries. And then you can not argue with them, because modern smartphones are discharged so quickly that at least do not go out of the house.

As already mentioned, no vital applications should suffer as a result of the renewal of the law. This topic is very difficult, because now you have to carefully examine each device and applications pre-installed on it in order to weed out important from completely useless. Some experts have already expressed concern that the shell for Android like the Samsung TouchWiz may also suffer as a result of such sweeps. But in any case, this is great news for all residents of South Korea, because soon they will get almost total control over their mobile devices.
