LG relies on biometric scanners

Every year the number of fingerprint scanners in smartphones will steadily grow. LG will be the next manufacturer that implements biometric technology in the entire lineup of smartphones in 2014. This is reported by the South Korean news agency ETNews.

LG has chosen a fingerprint scanner instead of a retinal scan technology due to the limitations associated with using the latter. Rumor has it that for the same reasons, Samsung temporarily refused to sell the eye scanner.

The first smartphone that LG will launch in the new year will be a follower of LG Optimus G Pro - LG G Pro 2 with a 5.9-inch Quad HD display. It is not difficult to guess that he will receive an additional degree of protection. The premiere of the smartphone will be held at the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) exhibition and conference in Barcelona (February 24-27).

The next carrier of the fingerprint scanner will be the flagship LG G3, which is destined to compete with the smartphone Samsung Galaxy S5, known so far only by rumors. According to the leaks, the LG G3 will get a Quad HD display, an eight-core processor and a 16 megapixel camera.

Recently, biometric technologies are increasingly used in smartphones. Following the iPhone 5s scanner got the HTC One Max. In addition, each of the above phones has a different scanner location. If the HTC One Max is located behind it, then it is hidden inside the iPhone's Home button.

For those who do not know why the smartphone needs a biometric scanner: the device eliminates the need to enter the authentication code manually. For manufacturers, this is an additional opportunity to impose their products on smartphone buyers. And LG is not going to miss such a chance.
