After demonstrating a teaser showing a smaller version of the flagship Android-smartphone, LG officially unveiled the G2 Mini. The South Korean company announced that the device will be shown later this week at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Despite the presence of Facebook photos of the LG G2 Mini, its technical characteristics remained unknown today.

According to LG, the G2 Mini is equipped with a 4.7-inch display with a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels, which is smaller than its predecessor with a 5.2-inch 1080p display. The novelty will receive the power and sound control keys on the back panel, like the model G2.

The message says that “to meet the needs of millions of people around the world,” the new smartphone will be offered in several versions, with one or two SIM cards, with 3G or 4G LTE support. The G2 Mini, which will run under the Android 4.4 operating system (the Korean manufacturer has already introduced a number of KitKat-based smartphones), will be available in two processor versions: a Qualcomm quad-core chip with a clock frequency of 1.2 GHz or Nvidia Tegra 4i with the same number cores, but at 1.7 GHz.

G2 Mini 3G Dual SIM will begin its debut from the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), then it will appear in the Middle East, Latin America, Asia and finally reach Europe. Nothing was said about accessibility in North America.

Having saturated the market with expensive large-sized smartphones, manufacturers began to use devices of the average price category. Samsung, for example, released the Galaxy S4 Mini, the HTC the One Mini (see review), and the Motorola the Droid Mini. The trend of budget smartphones was followed even by Apple. From her side came iPhone 5c.
