IPhone 6 smartphone predicts screen magnification

Research firm DisplaySearch has published a forecast for 2014, according to which the next-generation iPhone, expected this fall, will receive an enlarged display. Predictions of this company are not based on any insider information, but, as experience shows, they accurately predict the actions of Apple. So, the screen diagonal of the new iPhone will be 5.5 inches. The next smartphone model will also use AMOLED display technology, which Cupertines are rumored to have chosen for the iWatch.

As writes Electronista with reference to DisplaySearch, the “apple” company is leaning towards 4.7- and 5.5-inch screen options with different resolutions. A more compact version will offer 1600 x 900 with a pixel density of 386 ppi. For comparison: the current generation of the iPhone uses a 4-inch display with a resolution of 1136 x 640 pixels at 326 ppi, which Apple calls "Retina Display". It implies the following: the pixels are so small that when using smartphones at a distance typical for this type of device, the human eye is not able to distinguish the pixelization of the image.

Since the 4.7-inch screen with a resolution of 1600 x 900 pixels will retain the 16: 9 format, the iPhone 6 will become slightly wider compared to the previous model. Analysts from DisplaySearch also believe that Apple will choose Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080) for a 5.5-inch display with a density of 407 ppi. In this embodiment, LTPS (Low-Temperature Polycrystalline Silicon) technology can be implemented.

The message also mentions the iPad Pro, which is currently only rumored. The new Apple Tablet PC, if released, will receive a 12.9-inch 2K display (2732 x 2048), although so far there is no evidence of market demand for such a product or successful sales of tablets with a screen larger than the iPad.

As for the iWatch wristwatch, according to the DisplaySearch forecast, Apple will choose 1.3- and 1.6-inch AMOLED-displays with a resolution of 320 x 320 and a density of up to 348 ppi. It is expected that smartwatch will be released at the end of the year.
