The Swiss are preparing for sale a prestigious phone with autonomous charging

Meridiist Infinite

The Swiss manufacturer of prestigious wristwatches Tag Heuer has announced a new version of its luxury phone Meridiist. A project called Meridiist Infinite was attended by a number of French companies, including Atelier Haute Communication and Sunpartner Technologies. The latter is known technology Wysips Crystal, which allows smartphones to charge themselves.

The main feature of the phone Meridiist Infinite is the ability to self-recharge, thanks to technology Wysips Crystal, developed by the startup Sunpartner Technologies. Something similar at the beginning of this year was introduced by the well-known telecommunications company Alcatel, which is also based in France. At the CES-2014 in Las Vegas, she showed a smartphone with a transparent panel with built-in solar cells. However, Tag Heuer, unlike Alcatel, is the first company to bring such a device to the market. If Alcatel does not plan to release its smartphone until 2015, the Tag Heuer solution will debut on the market this year.

Wysips Crystal technology is represented by a transparent photoelectric material, which is placed between a special coating and a liquid crystal screen of the phone. A thin layer of this material is visible to the naked eye. The collection of energy occurs automatically under natural or artificial light. The collected energy is accumulated in the battery of the device.

According to the Pocket-lint resource, the Meridiist Infinite phone will be limited to only 1,911 copies. Its body is made of titanium grade 5 and carbon fiber. The mobile device is equipped with a 2.4-inch TFT LCD display with a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels. On top of the case there is a monochrome OLED panel for displaying additional information. Meridiist Infinite supports work with two SIM-cards, has a 5-megapixel camera on the back panel and an 8 GB drive.

Meridiist Infinite will go on sale in July this year. The cost of the device was not named, but, most likely, it will not be lower than the price for the current model Meridiist (EUR 3,900).
