The cost of production of Samsung Galaxy S5 and new sales records

Sales of the new flagship smartphone Galaxy S5 from the South Korean company Samsung has already begun and the research company IHS has by tradition decided to find out how much is actually worth the production of this device.

So, according to IHS, the cost of production of the smartphone Samsung Galaxy S5 is about 256 dollars, which means that the company will receive a very solid profit from each device sold, the average cost of which in the Russian market, we recall, is 29,800 rubles.

As expected, the most expensive detail in the new flagship is the 5.1-inch Full HD-display, which costs about $ 63. The next rather expensive part of the device is the operative and permanent memory, which in general cost in the production of a device of $ 33. As you know, the new flagship has a fingerprint scanner. So this detail costs the manufacturer about $ 4, which is much lower than the cost of a similar sensor in the smartphone iPhone 5S, which costs $ 15.

IHS indicates that the cost of the remaining parts in total is about $ 5, although the research company does not indicate the cost of the software and assembly materials of the novelty case.

For those who forgot, we note that the novelty offers a 5.1-inch Full HD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, runs on a quad-core processor Snapdragon 801 with a frequency of 2.5 GHz, has 2 GB of RAM and uses a graphics chip Adreno 330.

Currently, the device is available in the Russian market in a version with 16 GB of permanent memory. For those who do not think it is enough, the smartphone offers a slot for microSD memory cards up to 128 GB.

Among other features of the novelty should be noted 16-megapixel camera, a battery with a capacity of 2800 mAh and an operating system Android 4.4 Kit Kat.

As already mentioned above, Samsung Galaxy S5 entered the international market in 150 countries. And although the novelty is on the shelves from just last Friday, it already boasts an impressive sales volume. As reported by ZDNet Korea, Samsung Galaxy S5 has twice surpassed the number of models sold by the previous flagship smartphone Samsung Galaxy S4, launched on the market in 2013 within the same launch window.

And although Samsung itself is not yet divided by specific figures, the report of ZDNet Korea, referring to the representative of the South Korean giant, indicates that the bill goes to millions. Last year, the flagship Galaxy S4 for the first month of sales sold 10 million copies, which was a record for Samsung. Previous flagship Galaxy S3 was able to achieve this figure in about 50 days from the time of its official retail launch.
