During the announcement in 2012 of the iPhone 5 smartphone, Apple's senior vice president of marketing Phil Schiller said that it's very easy to create a product that is bigger in size, and that's what many companies have been doing. It is more difficult to create a product that includes all the best and at the same time becomes smaller. And here two years after these words, Apple presents a larger 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch iPhone 6.
At first glance, there is nothing unusual about it. According to the annual tradition, Apple allows its fans to replace their "five" on the brand new iPhone 6, one of which models offers a "similar" within the 4-inch screen.
There are many people who believe that the size of the display is very important when choosing a new gadget for everyday use. Previously it seemed (and it really seemed, or this opinion was imposed), that 4 inches - this is the size that is ideal for use with one hand. But after yesterday's presentation it became clear that this opinion fans of Apple will have to reconsider, because for the company itself it was not a priority. Even though Apple two years ago praised the 4-inch screen in its iPhone 5, which you can see by watching the video below.

iPhone 5 was not the thinnest smartphone of 2012

With the presentation of the year 2012, there is another interesting detail, which in some inexplicable way has remained very few people seen. Apple then said that the thickness of the iPhone 5 is only 7.6 mm, which makes it the thinnest smartphone on the market. The fact is that then it turned out to be a blatant lie. The market at that time already had devices whose thickness was even less than 7 millimeters. Take at least the same Ascend P1 S from Huawei (thickness 6.68 mm) or OPPO Finder (6.65 mm).
The most thin smartphones in 2012 Ascend P1 S and OPPO Finder:

4 inches - good, but 4.7 and 5.5 - better?
If you believe in Apple (and personally I do not want to believe it any more), iPhone 5 was designed with that in mind to fit perfectly in your hand. Thanks to the 4-inch screen, it's much easier and more convenient to type text messages, surf the web and other "amazing" things that you can not possibly do with just one hand if you use a device with a larger screen.
Perhaps I did not watch the presentation yesterday very carefully, but I still did not hear any logical arguments (and honestly, there were no arguments at all) in favor of why the company this time decided to launch devices with an enlarged screen and completely abandon option with an "ideal 4-inch" display. Perhaps, because the only possible argument the company simply was shy to voice. You will surely agree that it is difficult to admit that you are no longer a market leader and do not dictate a new fashion for new functions and sizes. The current fashion and trend today is set by the market itself. I do not want to mention in this text the competitors of the company from Cupertino, but it seems that they understood this much earlier than the "apple" company.

Nevertheless, Apple has found a solution for those people who will try (with unaccustomed) to use their new iPhone 6 with larger displays with one hand. The company added a feature in which a double tap of the Home (Touch ID) button causes all devices on the screen to slide down. Thus, up to shortcuts of applications located at the top of the screen, even people with short fingers will be able to reach with one hand.
All this, of course, is wonderful, but why then say that a 4-inch screen is ideal for everyone, and then release two new products with much larger displays? The answer is obvious - Apple no longer dictates the rules of the market. Market rules dictate the market itself and active competition. And yet, the lack of opportunity for the buyer to choose a more compact version of the iPhone 6 after several years of assurances that 4 inches are ideal, personally seems to me a big hypocrisy from Apple.
In truth, two years in the electronics industry is a very long time. Now almost every month there are new technologies that, as a result, replace the old ones. And from this point of view, it's fair to say that Apple's choice for larger screens in its new iPhone 6 still looks logical, albeit frankly belated.
New / old features of the iPhone 6, not invented by Apple
I would very much like to believe that once Apple fans or just people choosing the products of this company will be able to understand that most of the share of Apple's popularity is due not to its products, but to the work of its PR department. Of course, such a "sinner" is also available for other companies, and not just for the Cupertino guys, but it is Apple that tries to impose on all people the idea that it has all the right answers and only it offers the right products.
It should be noted that some of the functions that Apple referred to as breakthroughs in the framework of yesterday's presentation (management of svays, one-hand management functions and Wi-Fi calls) are actually already available in other smartphones that are present for a long time on the market . Most likely, Apple had in mind that these functions will be new to iPhone owners, but to speak in the traditional manner for Apple that "you do not see such anywhere else except in our country" - another hypocrisy from the "apple" company .
Apple is at an impasse and is trying to deceive buyers. Who exactly? Yes, all the same people who two years ago after Apple shouted about the "ideal four inches" and beat themselves in the chest, saying that they would be disappointed in the company and stop buying its smartphones if it increases their size. It seems to me that all these people will run in line for the new iPhone 6 one of the first, and then on the forums will once again come up with excuses for their past and present actions.
