What to expect from the exhibition MWC-2018?

The annual largest mobile industry exhibition Mobile World Congress (MWC), traditionally held in Barcelona, this year will open its doors on February 26 and will last until March 1. As a rule, there are a lot of different brands and goods at the exhibition, however this event attracts attention primarily because it attracts all fans of smartphones. This year we will find out how far the manufacturers have advanced and what response they have prepared for two very cool players of the end of the past and the beginning of this year - Apple's iPhone X and Pixel 2 from Google. We offer a short review of what is worth and should not be expected at the exhibition this year.

Samsung

Internet - one of the main headaches of modern manufacturers of smartphones, and indeed any technology. With the Network and millions of inquisitive eyes and ears, it becomes increasingly difficult to hide the latest developments. Samsung is no exception, and the fact that the South Korean giant is preparing new flagship devices is not a secret for anyone, perhaps starting from the beginning of sales of the previous flagships, the Galaxy S8 line.

According to the latest information, Samsung decided to abandon the early plans to create smartphones with a large aspect ratio and a screen that occupies almost the entire area of the front panel, deciding to stick to physical characteristics similar to the S8 and S8 + models.

Perhaps the main changes that await us in the new models S9 and S9 +, will be in their cameras. The "younger" S9 model will most likely offer one main rear camera, while the S9 + will be equipped with two. In turn, it can speak about better performance of optical scaling, as well as popular "portrait mode", similar to what the iPhone X and Pixel 2 now offer.

The fact that the main role in the novelties will be provided exactly to the updated cameras, says the published teaser, which promises a quick announcement of the "nine".

The fingerprint scanner will change its location - it will move far away from the camera module, so that users do not miss, getting into the optics. As it turns out, this is a fairly common complaint among S8 owners.

Concerning the gland. Here everything is quite expected. The new Snapdragon processor, 6 GB of RAM and the new DeX Station docking station will bring the dream of turning your smartphone into a compact and portable desktop computer.

Among the most recent rumors, it is noted that the new "nine" will be thicker and heavier than the "eight", and also lose the glossy gloss of the latter, so that in his hand will lie even more confidently. The increased weight and thickness, in turn, indicate the use of a more capacious battery, from which you can "squeeze" up to 1.5 days of work on the S9 +.

There are also talk about the fact that Samsung will present its analogue of animated 3D Animoji by Apple, as well as stereo speakers.

Of course, I would like to hear, and even better to see, at least a glimpse, a new folding smartphone Galaxy X, but the time has not yet come. Recall that Samsung plans to officially introduce the device only in early 2019.

Sony

If we start from what is shown in a very tiny video posted on the company's official page in Twitter, Sony will present new smartphones with tactile feedback to MWC. At least this conclusion was made by journalists of the publication BusinessInsider.

Another guess - smart phones (and perhaps only one, the flagship) will receive a rounded, so-called 2.5D-screen. But many people say that the Japanese company on February 26 will definitely show new items in the new design. In the end, it's time to leave these thick frames around the screen in 2013. Interestingly, the head of the Indian division of the company, Kenitoro Hibi, hinted to the edition of Indian Express in September that changes are coming.

It is possible that very soon we will see the new Sony Xperia XZ Pro with a new 4K-screen from the edge to the edge and a dual camera. And judging by the conversations in "Twitter" of one of the retailers in Ireland, so it will, most likely.

Huawei

The next model of one of the largest Chinese manufacturers, Huawei should be the novelty P11, also known as P20. According to one of the most interesting rumors related to the Chinese brand, Huawei signed a cooperation agreement with Leica, which will supply a 40-megapixel triple camera for the smartphone. But on MWC we hardly see this device. At least this is reported by several profile western sites, referring to their sources, which report that the Chinese brand will not bring a new flagship to MWC. When will the announcement take place? And the announcement will take place in March, in Paris, where Huawei calls journalists, sending them invitations at the moment.

According to rumors, the device will receive a new processor HiSilicon Kirin, made on 10-nm technology, 6 GB of RAM, 5.5-inch IPS-screen with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 and a battery for 3500 mAh with support for fast charging technology.

The video is based on leaks and rumors

So, the Chinese brand will not show anything on the MWC? According to publications on its official page in "Twitter", Huawei still has something for us. Western journalists suspect that this "something" is connected with virtual reality, but more likely, it is a question of a new line of MateBook tablets. In addition, the "smart" hours of Huawei Watch 2 are expected to be shown.

Motorola

Under the leadership of Lenovo, the long-suffering Motorola seems to be gaining momentum again, and especially in VR-space. However, the only thing that current rumors say is that the US-Chinese brand is really going to present several novelties in 2018. True, which of them will be shown directly at the exhibition - is unknown. We must wait.

There is an assumption that the Moto X4 will be replaced by two devices: G6 and E5. About this, at least, said Evan Blass, the famous American "liquor" (a person revealing sensitive information, and not the one you thought of), the web is better known under the pseudonym @ evleaks.

In January, these rumors were fueled by the publication of images of the alleged G6 model (see above). Based on it, the G6 will receive two rear cameras, as well as a front fingerprint scanner. In addition, earlier leaks said that the G6 and G6 Plus will receive updated Snapdragon processes, screens with Full HD resolution, and also quite capacious batteries for 4000 mAh.

Nokia

After Nokia eclipsed everyone with the release of the updated legend, model 3310, the company entered into a real rage and started releasing new items, starting with Nokia 2 and ending with Nokia 8. At the same time, by some miracle, by the end of the fourth quarter of the financial year, Nokia even managed to gnaw away a whole percentage of the smartphone market. Recall that the former owner of Nokia, the company Microsoft, suffered for several years, but in the end did not show even such results.

Release 3310 and the transition to Android allowed to raise sales to 40 million smartphones by the end of the year. In other words, Nokia is starting to hope. And also returned to the Finnish harbor - the owner of the brand is the Finnish company HMD, which employs veterans of Nokia. Let's see what she can offer on the MWC-2018. And will offer her what.

About a week ago, the web appeared image of the model Nokia 9 - presumably the new flagship of the Finnish brand. Various sources note that on it the head of HMD Global conducts a double-chamber "nine" test. The most eye-sighted noticed the presence of a fingerprint scanner, located under the modules. The smartphone itself, it seems, will be glossy.

Regarding the technical characteristics. Rumors promise a dual main 13-and-12-megapixel camera, a front 5-megapixel camera, and a 5.5-inch Full HD display. The device will work on the basis of a more modern Snapdragon processor, will receive 6 GB of RAM. They say the gadget will not be cheap - the cost will be higher by at least $ 200, compared to Nokia 8.

How, perhaps, the device will look, you can see the video below.

There are also talks that the release of the Nokia 8 Sirocco model is planned, the main feature of which will be surround sound and the ability to record video and create photos simultaneously from the front and rear cameras. In addition, you should expect the emergence of new budget models Nokia. Perhaps we will see a new version of 3310 with support for 4G.

Why wait yet?

LG confirmed that it postponed the new flagship for June. Asus either very well hides what products are going to show on the MWC, or they are just not very interesting to anyone, even if there are no leaks about the new flagship of ZenFone 5.

Several BlackBerry conferences are expected.

Xiaomi its Mi7 on the MWC is unlikely to bring. But there is a suspicion that at least two new items will pay homage to the exhibition: Mi Mix 2S and Mi Max 3.

There is no doubt that on the upcoming MWC, as well as the past CES, a great deal of attention will be devoted to technologies based on virtual and mixed reality. But as noted above, MWC - it's still first about smartphones, and then about everything else.
