#CES 2018 | Razer has created a docking station in the form of a laptop for your smartphone

In addition to the annual updates of its keyboards, mice and other gadget gadgets, Razer brought to the exhibition CES 2018 extremely unusual device, code-named Project Linda, which is a docking station in the form of a laptop. This conceptual docking station has a special port in the place where laptops usually have a touchpad. In this cavity, the user will be able to place the first smartphone for gamers Razer Phone, which we told you not so long ago.

A powerful smartphone is quite capable of becoming the "heart" of this improvised laptop. After all, it has a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, 8 GB of RAM, and it works all under the Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system. The power of the smartphone is enough to display on its 5.7-inch screen an image with a resolution of 2560 by 1440 pixels (density 514 ppi) and a refresh rate of the picture at 120 Hz. Agree, from this gadget to power the laptop will not be so difficult.

Being placed in the docking station, the smartphone not only becomes its "iron", but also acts as a touchpad for navigating through applications. Visitors of the exhibition were offered to use this touch panel to play various video games on the 13.3-inch Quad HR-screen of the docking station, as well as process photos in a graphics editor. Some games allow you to use the smartphone screen to display additional icons and function keys. The docking station is equipped with a USB-C port, through which it merges with the smartphone and exchanges data with it, in parallel charging it from the network.

The design of the docking station of many journalists impressed. This is a black laconic body, made of materials pleasant to the touch with Razer's characteristic attention to detail. Its RGB-keyboard overflows with all colors and is quietly configured for any user and his preferences. The docking station has a built-in webcam with a resolution of 720p and a double microphone in case you decide to make a video call. Of course, there is also a 3.5 mm audio jack on the case.

Inside the docking station is a battery that can charge a smartphone three times in a row, as well as an information storage capacity of 200 GB, on which you can save files and install applications. Representatives of Razer, of course, make it clear to journalists that this is just a prototype and it is still unknown whether he will eventually go on a free sale. However, some visitors were genuinely interested in the device. So, maybe, one day it will actually appear on the shelves of stores.
